Happy Birthday Aa

In the past when thinking of having children I always thought I'd want a boy first as I thought any girl living life without an older brother would be missing out.

Although I've heard it's common to have sibling rivalry between brothers and sisters, I don't remember much of anything that would fall into that category with Aaron. Although we weren't "peas in a pod" hanging out together all the time, I always admired him - that is, beside his crying to mommy saying "Mommy, tell Angelina to stop" (snicker, snicker) and was proud to be his little sister.

I think back on fond memories of times after I'd just turned 16 when he took on the "big brother" responsibility of looking out for me when I was around young guys. Or when I'd embarrass him by wanting to do silly things like piggy back ride for a picture.

I remember one time he was traveling to where my best friend lived in Ukraine. I asked him how chocolate was there and he said it wasn't too great, so I gift wrapped a bar for her and gave it to him to give her for me. In that day we used snail mail so when writing my friend I inquired as to whether she liked the chocolate. A few months later I found out that she never got it and upon further investigation I found out Aaron got hungry on the 2 day train ride over there, opened the gift and ate it without ever telling anyone. LOL! Such are the ways of my endearing brother. Hardy-har!

I'll never forget your post teenage quips and jokes coming at the most unexpected times that made them all the funnier like the one time someone asked you if you work out and you replied "No", "Well, actually yes, with a baseball bat - keeping the girls away" (making a swinging motion). Good times! Ha!

Aaron and I - our younger years

Aaron, you were always sweet to me when growing up and were there to encourage and help me when I needed it (when you were around). I really, really love you and am so thankful you haven't changed any from being the brother I've always known and loved. I pray we can always talk about whatever is on our minds freely and enjoy each others company even if we journeyed all the way into the center of a big city to watch a movie and half way through the adventure film it cuts and everyone is told to clear out and get a refund on their cinema tickets because the reel broke and won't play the movie anymore. That's what makes memories. :)

You're an awesome daddy to your girls - I think you're one of those "one in a million dads" like I remember dad being with us.

All that to say, I wish I could have spent more time living with you since we were kids, but such is life. We're waiting for the time when you'll get the chance to come and visit us down here.

I love you TONS and am praying you have a wonderful new year making the best of what the Lord and life bring your way.

xxxx
